Submitted by zoe on Mon, 2011-08-01 15:29
We’re so excited that the Vail International Dance Festival is in town! And, we’d love to help you enjoy the event “Like a Local”, by sharing what we’ve learned about getting the most out of this thrilling, world-class celebration of all types of dance...
A Packed Performance ScheduleThe "Dance Festival," as we've been calling it for 20+ years, runs July 31-August 13, 2011. Take a peek at the schedule of performances, including FREE shows at Solaris in Vail Village throughout the festival engagement.
Ticket Information
Tickets range in price from $20.00 to $90.00 for most events and special festival packages are also offered. For more ticket information, click here.
All ticket sales are FINAL, so make sure to double-check before submitting your ticket selection. If, sadly, a show must be cancelled, you may exchange your ticket or request a refund. (Unused tickets may be redeemed at the Box Office for a tax deduction receipt equal to the value of the tickets)
Venues
Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, Vail, is an outdoor venue with drop-dead gorgeous views. It features both covered reserved seating as well as a grassy hillside for first come-first served lawn seating. Gates open one hour prior to show time!
Lawn seating hot tips:
Kids 12 and under are FREE with a paid adult lawn ticket! Of course, anyone attending is expected to sit quietly as a courtesy to both guests and performers, regardless of age.
Guests are welcome to bring along picnic baskets, but beverages must be non-alcoholic and commercially sealed upon entry.
‘Legless’ chairs are permitted.
The Box Office is located at the Amphitheater entrance , right next to the renowned Betty Ford Alpine Gardens, a beautiful way-station for meeting friends on the way to the show. www.bettyfordalpinegardens.org
Contact the Box Office at 970.845.8497 or toll free at 888.920.2797
Getting to Ford Amphitheater:
- A few paid parking spots are available for $5 at Ford Park (northeast of the Amphitheater on the Frontage Road) and at the Soccer Field (southeast of the Amphitheater on Vail Valley Drive.)
- FREE parking is available at the Village and Lionshead parking structures. From the Village structure, it’s a leisurely, brief stroll along Gore Creek to the show. Lionshead is a bit further away… about a 20 minute walk east to the Amphitheater. Or hop on the FREE village shuttle from either parking structure and be dropped just across the creek from the amphitheater.
- Friendly people in golf carts circulate near the amphitheater to assist guests who need it.
Vilar Performing Arts Center, Beaver Creek, is an acoustically-rich, intimate theatre with reserved seating and a history of dynamic performances. Lobby doors open one hour before show time!
The Box Office is located in the lobby. Contact the box office at 970.845.8497 or toll free at 888.920.2787
Getting to Vilar Performing Arts Center:

- Paid parking is available in Beaver Creek Resort at the Villa Montane garage (across from the Vilar Center) and Ford Hall garage, above the resort promenade.
- FREE parking is available in the East and West parking lots in Avon below the resort – just grab the FREE shuttle for a 5 minute ride up to the mountain and to the Covered Bridge, the gateway to the resort.
Solaris Plaza, Vail is an expansive outdoor public plaza and the perfect setting for the FREE dance festival performances because dancers and spectators are closely connected in a synergetic community.
Getting to Solaris:
The plaza is located immediately west of the Vail Village parking structure along Meadow Drive, which is also the FREE village shuttle route from Lionshead.
Notes about the venues:
Venues are ADA compliant, but please give the box office folks a heads-up when ordering your tickets.
Cameras, video cameras and other recording devices are NOT permitted at the venues during performances. Please check your backpacks upon arrival at the Vilar Center. Don’t forget to silence cell phones and pagers!
Pick a performance, grab a friend and fall in with an enthusiastic audience as together you anticipate a spectacular evening of dance after a memorable day in the mountains.
