Vail, CO: Weekend Activites Update: Yo-Yo Ma Concert, BBQ Bonzana, Vail Arts Festival, and More!

Summer is here and this weekend is full of fun events for the whole family. The regularly scheduled summer events continue with the addition of a few more cultural activities!

Friday, June 25:

Vail Arts Festival: Lionshead, Fri & Sat 10am - 5pm, Sun 10am - 4pm: A three day celebration of the visual and performing arts. Over 70 artists from the U.S. will converge on Arrabelle Square in Lionshead for the three day visual arts festival, June 26-28. An array of artwork will be on display including watercolors, oil and acrylic paintings, woodworking, glass, sculptures, furniture, mosaics, ceramics, metalworks, photography and jewelry. Take advantage of the unique opportunity to meet each exhibiting artist in person. Additionally, enjoy street entertainers and live performances throughout the day, plus great food.

Yo-Yo Ma & Kathryn Scott Recital:Ford Amphitheater, 6:00pm: The ppening night of the 23rd season of the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival will feature the acclaimed Cellist Yo-Yo Ma joining pianist Kathryn Stott in a one-night-only recital. It's Yo-Yo Ma people - do we need to say more?

Saturday, June 26:

Doggy Dash (New Date): Nottingham Park, Avon, 8 - 11am: Admission: The Doggy Dash is a 3 mile fun walk for you and your dog. Registration includes a goodie bag and raffle ticket. Additional raffle tickets available for wonderful prizes for both dogs and their people. There will be fun contests you can participate in or watch, or stroll around Dog Town to discover dog-friendly businesses in the Vail area. Registration begins at 8am, the walk begins at 9am. Raffle and contests immediately following the walk.

Minturn Market: Minturn, 9am - 2pm: In 1998, the Minturn Market was born. With only a handful of vendors and a bit of entertainment, the first open-air market in the Vail Valley set up shop among the Victorian buildings in historic downtown Minturn.
More than 145 vendors and 45,000 people attend the Minturn Market, making this weekly outdoor event the largest farmer’s market in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.

Edwards Farmers Market: Edwards, 9:30am - 1:30pm: The Edwards Farmers Market is in the 7th year of operation, providing locals with fresh, local farm and gourmet food products. The Edwards Farmers Market specializes in food and locals can talk with some of the finest and most knowledgable farmers and food vendors in Colorado. The market is located in downtown Edwards and provides convenient, free, on-site parking. Pets are welcome.

BBQ Bonanza: Vail Village, 11am - 4pm: Mark your calenders for Saturday, June 26th for Vail's BBQ Bonanza. Local Restaurants will be competing for the coveted title of VAIL'S BEST BBQ! Enjoy the best BBQ around while enjoying great music, sidewalk sales, and children's activities.

Culinary Demonstration: Beaver Creek, 5:00pm: Don’t miss this culinary favorite as Chefs from local restaurants give free culinary demonstrations at the Bon Appétit tent in Beaver Creek Plaza Saturday afternoons at 5:00pm. Multiple demonstrations will take place each day on festival weekends. Make sure to check the schedule below so you don't miss out on the action.

Vail Lacrosse Shootout: The Vail Lacrosse Shootout will be June 26 - July 4 at Ford Park, Vail Athletic Field, Donovan Park, Nottingham Park in Avon, and Freedom Park in Edwards from approx. 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. This annual event is an invitational lacrosse tournament featuring age/gender divisions of: Under 19 High School Boys & Girls; Men's & Women's Elite (collegiate & post collegiate); Men's Masters (age 30 & up); Men's Supermasters (age 40 & up); Men's Grandmasters (age 50 & up). Teams from all geographical areas of the U.S. as well as a few from Canada will attend. As many as 3,200 atheletes are anticipated to participate. The number of spectators over the course of the 9 day event is anticipated to be 12,000 to 14,000.

Sunday, June 27:

Vail Farmer's Market: Vail Village, 9:30am - 3:30pm: The Vail Farmers Market & Art Show is the largest farmers marketing in COlorado. With more than 100 vendor tents weekly, guests can gets fresh local farm and food products from fresh fruits and vegetables to delicious snacks, food, and wine. Every week there is live music and kids activities. Local artists will also have their work on display and for sale.
