Travel Channel's Bert the Conqueror Features Glenwood Caverns
Submitted by zoe on Thu, 2011-07-14 16:37
The Travel Channel's Bert Kreischer, host of Bert the COnqueror, came, saw, and screamed on the Giant Canyon Swing at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park this past May.
The show featuring his experiences at Glenwood Caverns aired on the Travel Channel last night, July 13 at 8pm.
Steve Beckley, who owns Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park with his wife Jeanne, had never ridden the swing until that day. His first and, according to him, last ride on the Giant Canyon Swing was with Kreischer on camera for the show. “I took one for the team that day,” said Beckley. “I don’t think I opened my eyes, but I know I didn’t scream like Bert did.”
Sam Champion, meteorologist for Good Morning America, joined Kreischer at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park that day and their ride on the Giant Canyon Swing was featured on Good Morning America o
n May 26. The national publicity has helped the Adventure Park start the summer off with strong numbers and resulted in additional media opportunities. The Travel Channel’s Mancations crew visited the park in early June and shot footage of Gareth and Evan, the co-hosts of the show, on the Bungee Jump and Alpine Coaster. The airdate for that episode has not been scheduled. The Giant Canyon Swing, which opened in May 2010, launches riders out over Glenwood Canyon, 1,300 feet above the Colorado River. The Adventure Park is home to several other extreme attractions that also draw visitors from far and wide, including the first Alpine Coaster in the United States, which opened in 2005, and a 70-foot Bungee Jump and Soaring Eagle Zip Ride that opened in May 2011. Visitors to the park can enjoy tram rides, guided tours of Glenwood Caverns and Historic Fairy Caves, a climbing wall, bungee trampolines, the only 4D Motion Theater in Colorado, a mechanical bull ride, mountain-top restaurants, laser tag and a giant human maze as well.
Glenwood Caverns is now hosting a "Scream Like a Girl" video contest in honor of Bert's enthusiastic expressions.
Can you scream like Bert the Conqueror did on the Travel Channel July 13? In honor of his show about our Giant Canyon Swing, we are hosting a video contest through August 15th. Post your best screaming video on any of our rides on YouTube, and then post the link on our wall. We'll have our fans vote, and the winner will receive 4 day passes to the park!
Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is nestled in the mountains overlooking scenic Glenwood Springs, Colorado, midway between Aspen and Vail. The park is open 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. daily.
