We've had such a dry year so far in the Central Colorado Rockies.  As a result, effective tomorrow (5/24/12), the federal Bureau of Land Management is banning fires on some bureau lands in Colorado. The ban means no fires of any type on BLM land, including Eagle, Garfield, Mesa and Pitkin counties.

Vail.net's personal fly fishing guide, Mark Sassi, took the time this morning to send us a quick update on current fishing conditions. Here's what he has to say: "The local fly fishing is absolutely on fire right now. With all the lower water levels comes the hatches of Caddis, mayflies and the ever so famous Salmon Fly. Floating is available but the best way to hook up right now is by wading in the river. You can fish from the crack of dawn to last light and catch fish all day."
