In last week’s Vail Valley fall color report, we reported hints of yellow everywhere, and predicted the next two weekends (September 28 & 29 and October 5 & 6) would be our peak fall color weekends up here. And guess what?
We were right!
While there are still patches of green throughout the Valley, there are literally more colors spreading through the forests surrounding Vail and Beaver Creek every day. Sometimes it seems like the hillsides become more colorful overnight, or even during the workday. And…it gets even better.
The colors aren’t limited to the usual golden yellow we see up here in the fall aspens, they’re turning orange and even a little red too.
We had our first significant snowfall above 7,000 feet in the past week, and the rapidly emerging fall colors pop even better when set against snow-capped peaks and bright blue skies.
The forecast for this weekend is currently calling for sunny days and temps in the 50’s and 60’s for the Vail Valley, perfect for hitting the trails to get the best views of the fall colors.
Make a weekend of it and take advantage of off-season lodging specials.
